England & Wales: The
UK Planning Portal covers all planning and regulatory matters with links
to a number of subject areas. It is designed for use by the general public,
planning professionals and public bodies such as Local Authorities. A complete
list of all Building Regulations Parts A-P can be found on the Local Authority
Building Control (LABC) website.
Important
note: Part P of the Regulations made it illegal from 1st January 2005
for anything other than simple changes to sockets and light fittings to be
made unless you are a registered and accredited electrician. The maximum
fine is £5000 and it becomes a criminal offence to conceal such work
if carried out by persons without proper accreditation.
Northern Ireland: The
Building Regulations Parts A-V are prepared by the Ministry of Finance for
Northern Ireland and administered by 26 District Councils. They differ from
the Regulations in England and Wales.
Scotland: The Building Control System in
Scotland is different and covers Parts A-S. The Scottish Building Standards
Agency prepares the building regulations, technical guidance on
how to meet them, and a provides a guide to the procedures to be followed
before building.
Republic of Ireland: The Department of the Environment,
Heritage & Local Government creates building regulations which
are then administered by Local Building Control Authorities.
