The aim of this section is to identify learning institutions catering for trade and professional skill development. Universities will be identified where degree and training courses in the construction and civil engineering fields are provided. There is also increasing demand for college courses to teach construction industry skills at basic, intermediate and higher level in all the main disciplines. These will include bricklaying, decorating, electrical systems, plastering, plumbing, roofing, joinery and many others.
The Construction
Industry Training Board is one of the key training organisations
in the Industry. Various specialist centres such as the Lime
Centre and The Scottish Lime Centre also provide specialist
skills training. We intend to create a simple reference section
here with means to search for a skill type within an area. Some
indication of costs (or grants) will also be given.
The Government's Business Link Centres may also be included here regarding new business set-ups and the support they may be able to provide.
