This section links to details about the new HM Government and Public Sector
Open Tender market. This was a new initiative under the last the Labour Government under
the "Office of Government Commerce" - a department of HM Treasury. A new
initiative was launched in January 2007 called "Transforming Government Procurement"
intended to avoid excessive red tape and the need for competitive open tendering
on public contracts. The "tenders" involved
will have a low value - typically up to £250,000 but any company can
apply to do the job at the fixed price declared in the tender. This initiative
is mainly aimed at SME companies. The Private & Public Tender Alert Service provides lists of tenders available in the private sector.
